Against the Ogre Horde!: Update 10

Hello all!

Here for another update on the vast Hordes of the Ogre Kingdoms.  So to start...remember these guys?

Well after about...a few months they are finally finished!  Here we have the unit champion (along with the conversion I hinted at all those months ago.

 

So here we have the whole unit of 6 Leadbelchers, all magnetized and their based movement tray as well.

 

So here it is my first fully completed unit for my Ogre army.  Next up on my list,  my Ironguts thats have been in an almost completed state for the last 3 years.  Now time to get them done.  I REALLY hope to get this army done by the end of the month.  All that is left is two more Ironguts, a Battle Standard Bearer, a Tyrant and the last of a Scraplauncher.

The Breaking of the Averholme: Age of Sigmar

Hello Everybody!

Okay. I haven't had an opportunity to really talk about the end of Warhammer Fantasy Battle and Age of Sigmar.  That's most because I have been trying to stay positive and not feel like I wasted a (Significant) amount of money on models I can no longer use.

Mind you this has led me to finally break whatever "loyalty" I had to GW and venture out to really check out other companies and try and incorporate them into my armies.  Mind you those are all projects I will probably only get to at a later date.  For now I'm going to focus on the Elephant in the room, Age of Sigmar!

Now, for starters I'd just like to say:

1) I'm not a super fan of Age of Sigmar
2) I don't hate Age of Sigmar

I get why GW did what they did, Fantasy Battle was not making as much money as they would have liked and certainly was not growing.  Now I personally would have done something similar to what they did with AoS,  wreck the Old World with the End Times, but don't actually end the world.  Push the time ahead a thousand years or so, reconfigure the armies and alliances for more customization.  Make armies smaller so one box of soldiers could make a unit.  Stuff to really shake things up....mind you I would have also put together a huge 400 page tome with updated rules, all the Army Books in one large volume and called it Warhammer: The End and told all the veterans so long! (and thanks for all the fish)....but I'm not a CEO so ignore me I guess.

That being said I decided to try and put together a small AoS force using models I have lying around with no real intention of using.  So without further ado....

A Celestial Wizard on a horse and one Reaper Miniature for my D&D Campaign.  The plan for my AoS force is a somewhat remnant force of Free Peoples and Dwarfs living around the Averholme....

Hey all!

Okay so I spent most of the week getting a batch ready, and here it is!

SO here we have the two units I have been hoping to finish.  8 Ironguts and 6 Leadbelchers and two "Bones" Trolls for a D&D Campaign.

Now time to get these based and on the painting table!

New Year, New Projects!

Hello all!

Well I'm back from an (Almost) two month hiatus.  New year and new projects to get working on!  So with the new year I have returned to the seat of Dungeon Master and, as a result, a lot of what I will be painting will be for the campaign I am running.  HOWEVER I WILL finish my Ogres, that is just a fact.  Over the holiday I got the last pieces I need and besides a few hobby needs I have no excuse to hold up the project any longer.

So without further ado....

A few things I'm working to put together and get base coated for a painting spree this weekend.  The front rank of my Ironguts finally have a Unit Champion and Musician (almost) ready to go!  I have to seal in the rocks on the Champion base and the Musician needs a few more bits and a base as well.

Now I WAS working on my Scraplauncher and I plan on finishing that next.  I just wanted to ease my way into painting with something that will not cause me to pull my hair out.

As for D&D, well, the main items I'm working on are that troll that can be seen there as well as a character model for one of my players.  So those are in the pipeline too.

A Brief Interlude 2: the Interludining

Hey all!

Soooo yeah I got nothing new to post today for several reasons.  The primary one being a lack of motivation, although I have made progress on the Scraplauncher.  I made the foolish error about 2 weeks ago and saw pretty much all the DLC for the Mass Effect series was 50% off...

I proceeded to get all the stuff I was missing (Lair of the Shadow Broker, Leviathan, Omega etc)  That led me to want to play through the series again and finally get the Insanity Achievements I have been missing.  Needless to saw I took a slight break from painting up the Ogres but I WILL get back to it before the end of the year.  I'm going to finish this damn army even if it kills me.

I've also took the opportunity to play a few games of X-Wing, which I have been enjoying quite a bit while also planning my next project.  I've decided on one of two things.

1. Complete my Empire Army (2250pt list)
2. Painting up some Lord of the Rings Minis
3. Complete a D&D Bones Mini painting challenge

I'm still mulling over what to do but whatever it is I will be sure to share!

A Brief Interlude

Hello all!

I'm still chugging along on my Scraplauncher.  Still hating it like the fire fires of a thousand hells...

Despite this however I though I'd show you something else I completed painting inbetween all the Ogre painting and such

Another piece of wargaming terrain and a good, old fashioned Bones River Troll!  I'm still not totally sold on the colour scheme.  It is a little too dark for me but I consider it a test run for the ACTUAL old GW metal River Trolls I have lying around for my Orc and Goblin Army. (Which I plan on getting too!)

So for now here we are!  I'm slowly getting the base completed for the Scrraplauncher to be followed up by the Rhinox itself and I hope to have them done before the weekend (Thank god those two are pretty straight forward with their colour scheme).

Against the Ogre Horde!: Update 8

Hello all!

Okay so I've been away for awhile....mostly not getting stuff done.  That is, of course, because this Scraplauncher is HELL!!!!

 

So It's MOSTLY together but in the act of putting those damn chain on I snapped them...so fuck it!  No flimsy metal chains on this model.  Its not completely glued together but it is pinned.  All I need to do is spray it, paint it and put the parts together.
